Two years ago Mabel joined Lucy and myself caring for my mother (Shirley Shaddock). Shirley had early signs of Dementia and her mobility was slowly getting worse. Mabel very quickly bonded with Mum becoming both carer and friend. Both Mother and I came to rely on Mabel more and more as time progressed. Mabel has a very professional but compassionate manner and a breezy good humour that lifted all our spirits. My working arrangements meant that I am away on an irregular basis. Mabel was always willing to adapt her schedule whenever she could to ensure Shirley got the care she needed. As mother’s health deteriorated Mabel was able to step up the level of care and was instrumental in bringing additional carers to the team, to ensure an appropriate level of care. Mabel is extremely conscientious with a high work ethic. I would have no hesitation in re-employing her or recommending her for any similar position. I have been having support in the home from Mabel for about a year now. She is very reliable and very pleasant. She is also very trustworthy, nothing has ever gone missing from the house. She will do whatever you ask her to do. If you do not give her specific direction she will look at what needs to be done in the house and will busy herself doing the relevant chores. The house always looks tidy and clean when she leaves, She is cheerful and friendly and has a good sense of humour. She changes and washes my bed clothes every fortnight and will turn the mattress and change it end for end when asked to do so. The bed always looks neat and cosy when she has finished. I look forward to her visits.
Mabel looked after my Dad for the last six months of his life as he battled cancer. She was an amazing carer, always so kind and caring, calm, and friendly. Dad loved chatting to her.
